    GRACE AND UNION WITH CHRIST

First, listen to the audio lectures. The lectures are slightly long this week (I would normally cover union with Christ across weeks 2 and 3) so feel free to listen up to the third or fourth lecture this week and carry some over for next week. In terms of reading,  complete the prescribed Hoekema reading, and the second reading below.

PLEASE NOTE: Your first summary statement is due on Friday of this week!!

    •   SECOND READING

Read part of chapter 2 in Robert Letham, Union with Christ: Scripture, History and Theology (P&R, 2011). This book is available as an ebook on the DTL. Please read up from the beginning of chapter 2 up to the section titled "Excursus: The Development of Christological Thought up to the Second Council of Constantinople" and then from the section title "In terms of the history of redemption: etc" until the end of that chapter 2.

    JUSTIFICATION I

Listen to the audio lecture below. This week's lecture is a little shorter so use extra time to catch up and get ahead in reading and assignments. Your readings are the prescribed section of Hoekema and the second reading by Mark Seifrid which is below. I have also included a link to a very brief YouTube video with an explanation of the New Perspective on Paul explained by two of its most important proponents.

    JUSTIFICATION II AND ADOPTION
Listen to the two audio lectures below, which finish off our time on Justification and also discuss Adoption. Your readings (as usual) are the prescribed section of Hoekema and the second reading which is available below by Cornelis Venema. This goes into a little more detail about the New Perspective on Paul and evaluates it as a reading of Scripture.
