[One of two friezes of the Old Testament prophets that adorn the walls of the Boston Public Library. Painted by John Singer Sargent, it was installed in the library in 1895.]
This is the second of two foundational units that form the basis for all further study of the Old Testament (OT). The aim is to provide you with a useful overview of the books comprising the Prophetic Books and the Writings.
During Week One, please open the page below entitled, "Important Resources for Prophets and Writings." In it you will find the Unit Outlines for this unit, as well as rubrics for assessing the Forums and for your Essay, and a guide to help you with exam preparation. Please familiarise yourself with these documents, especially the Unit Guide.
During the semester, you should expect to spend around 10 hours per week in study. This should include both the class notes and extra work such as readings, forum contributions, and essay research.
Please introduce yourself in the "Personal introductions" forum below. We'll be spending a lot of time (virtually) together this semester, so it would be nice to know a little about you!
May the Lord bless and enrich you as we journey into the prophetic writings of the Old Testament.
